About the Department

Civil Engineering is a mother of all branch of engineering, which deals with infrastructural development of the country. The department of civil engineering was established in the year 2004. PG courses of Structural Engineering and Construction Technology were introduced in the year 2011 and 2013 respectively. We are happy and proud to announce that our college has been granted Autonomous statues under VTU. Department is Accredited by NBA and NAAC with A grade. The Department has well equipped laboratories for teaching, R & D and industrial consultancy works. It aims to transform as leader in technical knowledge by providing excellent academic environment for the students which helps in grooming for innovative and challenging future in turn contribute for development of the nation. Department also offers consultancy and testing services in the field of Civil Engineering. Department of Civil Engineering is headed by Dr. D. L. Venkatesh Babu, the department is offering following programmes:

  1. B.E. – Civil Engineering
  2. M.Tech – Structural Engineering
  3. M. Tech – Construction Technology and Management
  4. Ph. D – Civil Engineering (VTU-RRC)

Value Added Programme (VAP) like Workshop, Training and invited talks are conducted to bridge the gap between the theory and industry requirement. Speakers from the various reputed intuitions IIT’s NIT’s and IISc, organizations like Pollution control Board, Disaster monitoring board, State Environmental board, Fire safety, ACCE(I), ICI(KBC) and industries like Ultra tech cement, NCC. Ltd. are delivering the talks related to the construction, new trending technologies and environmental policy.   

Internship and Graduate training will be provided for UG and PG Students by NCC ltd., NCC Urban, Jampana Construction Pvt. Ltd and Shri Aruna Constructions Pvt. Ltd., along with other reputed construction company over a period of 2 to 3 months. To impart practical aspects of Construction technology and practice, where students are trained in the various sites like Metro BMRCL, White topping, stadiums construction, Residential and commercial ongoing projects all over India.

Periodic site visits are arranged for Brick factories, High rise residential building, Metro fly over construction, White topping work of NCC Ltd., Metro BMRCL Tunnel construction,  Pre-stress concrete casting Yard, RMC Plants, Ultratech cement factory, Sewage Treatment Plant at BWSSB, Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center and Traffic Management Center Bangalore.    Also students will be trained in software like Rivet Structures, MSP, ETABS, Staad Pro, MX road, Arc GIS and Intergraph ERDAS and Auto CAD etc.   

Expert faculties are available in various field of Civil engineering like NDT, corrosion studies , Vibration analysis, highway Technology, structural design Engineers, Structural health monitoring, material testing, soil engineering, water & waste water analysis, Total Station Surveying, GPS surveying, GIS mapping services, Remote Sensing, Hydrology and irrigation engineers etc.   The faculty members in the department are actively involved in research and consultancy work in emerging areas relevance to industry and society. For real time exposure in the construction field, the department undertakes consultancy services.

The department offers online certification courses apart from regular academic courses which helps students in building up the career. Department is recognized by IIRS-ISRO Outreach Programme network which focusses on strengthening the Academia and User Segments in Space Technology & Its Applications using Online Learning Platforms. Under this programme the two mode of content delivery system is developed using online learning platform (i.e) Live & Interactive mode (known as EDUSAT) and e-Learning mode.
